High School Confidential (Rough Trade Song)
"High School Confidential" is a song by Canadian new wave band Rough Trade, from their 1980 album '' Avoid Freud''. The band's breakthrough Top 40 hit in Canada, it remains their most famous song. The song's producer was Gene Martynec, who won the Juno Award for Producer of the Year for his work on "High School Confidential" and Bruce Cockburn's "Tokyo". It was written by the band's main songwriting team, Carole Pope and Kevan Staples. Some references incorrectly credit Jerry Lee Lewis and Ron Hargrave as the songwriters, but the Rough Trade song is not a cover of the Jerry Lee Lewis song of the same name. Although the song uses the title of the 1958 film '' High School Confidential'', as well as references which suggest that the song is set in a similar time frame, the lyrics do not strongly resemble the film's drug-related plot. Vicki Heather Wickham (born 1939) is an English talent manager, entertainment producer, and songwriter. Career Wickham was an assistant producer of the 1960s British television show '' Ready Steady Go!'', and was fashion consultant for the short-lived ''The Mod's Monthly'' magazine, first issued in March 1964 by Albert Hand Publications, and edited by Mark Burns. However she is probably best known as the manager of well-known pop/soul acts Dusty Springfield and Labelle. George Marino
George Marino (April 15, 1947 – June 4, 2012) was an American mastering engineer known for working on albums by rock bands starting in the late 1960s. Biography Marino was born on April 15, 1947, in the New York City borough The Bronx. He attended Christopher Columbus High School there and learned to play the saxophone and bass fiddle in the high school band and was classically trained on guitar. Marino broke into the music business as a guitarist playing rock and roll in local New York City bands such as The Chancellors and The New Sounds Ltd. until most of the band members were drafted into the service for the war in Vietnam. In 1967, Marino landed his first job in the industry as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios. Terry Wilkins is an Australian-born Canadian musician, composer and producer. Career A native of Sydney, Australia, Terry's early performances saw him playing guitar in a folk group at University in 1965 (following his graduation from Parramatta Marist High in 1964). Within a couple of years he had dropped out of Academia and found himself in Taylor Square, Darlinghurst. The Taylor Square scene was a breeding ground in the late 60s. Various bands playing jug band, blues, psychedelic, folk, country and other styles co-existed there for a few years. Terry discovered the bass at this time playing with The Starving Wild Dogs featuring New Zealander Red McKelvie on guitar, Daryl McKenzie on drums and Wally Mudd singing and playing harmonica.
