Avignon Volley-Ball
Avignon Volley-Ball is a French professional Volleyball team based in Avignon, Vaucluse. It is playing in the Ligue B for the 2013/2014 season. History Initially, the Volley-ball team was a part of the Rugby league team of Avignon (SOA XIII), but in 1961 the club became independent. In 1996, "AVB" achieved its highest ranking in French volleyball league, finishing at the fourth place and qualifying for the CEV European cup. In 1997, the team also qualified for the CEV cup, due to their participation in the French volley-ball cup final but lost against Paris Université Club 1-3. They were eliminated on the first round by the Avtomobilist St Petersburg. In the 2011/2012 season, they won their third "second division" title and were promoted to French volleyball league. Nathan French (born 20 April 1990) is a British volleyball player. French was born in Chelmsford, Essex and he competed for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics. French was the youngest member (at age 22) of the men’s team and started playing the sport in school when he was 13. French has also played professionally in Spain, France, Germany and Israel. Background French started playing volleyball when he was 13, and at age 16, he decided to dedicate his life to it. He was attending the Boswells School in Chelmsford at the time. It was during his teens when the school formed an academy for the sport. The volleyball academy at the school is now considered to be one of the best in the country. Matti Hietanen
Matti Hietanen (born 3 January 1983) is a professional volleyball player from Finland. Career Early career Hietanen started his career with Vilppula Tähti. After that he moved to Tampere and started study in Varala Sport High School. At the same time he played on the youth national team. At the youth national teams U-19 European Championship qualifications, Hietanen was the best player, but Finland did not survive to European Championships. Finland league Hietanen played his first season in the Finland volleyball league season of 2000–2001. His club was Tampereen Isku-Volley. After one season in Isku-Volley he made a two-year contract with Salon Piivolley.
