The classification system of inhabited localities in Russia and some other post-Soviet states has certain peculiarities compared with those in other countries. Classes During the Soviet time, each of the republics of the Soviet Union, including the Russian SFSR, had its own legislative documents dealing with classification of inhabited localities. Sangar (russian: Санга́р; sah, Сангаар, translit=Sangaar) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Kobyaysky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 4,377. Geography Sangar is located on the right bank of the Lena River, on the opposite bank of the mouth of the Tyugyuene, by road from Yakutsk, the capital of the republic.
