Avi Nimni
Avi Nimni ( he, אבי נמני; born 26 April 1972) is a former Israeli football player and Maccabi Tel Aviv's highest ever scorer. He is regarded as one of Maccabi Tel Aviv's greatest players ever. Until 2006, he served as the captain of the Israel national team. His number 8 shirt has become so symbolic (despite him wearing the number sixteen as a youth, because Uri Malmilian wore the number 8) that Maccabi Tel Aviv has retired the number at the end of his active football career. Football career Early years Nimni was approximately seven years old when he joined Maccabi Tel Aviv's training facility in Kiryat Shalom. Shlomo Scharf ( he, שלמה שרף; born 1 January 1943) is a former Israeli football player and manager who now works as a regular commentator on Israeli Sport 5 TV channel. Scharf managed Maccabi Haifa to three championships, and was Israel national football team manager from 1992 to 1999. Managerial career Scharf managed the Israeli national team from 1992 to 1999 during which time he beat France 3-2 in an away game, and his contract was repeatedly extended due to his improvements. Further international victories were achieved against Poland and Bulgaria whilst qualifying for the European Championships and World Cup (France) respectively. His most notable victory is regarded to be his 5-0 win against Austria. Major losses were during two home games against Cyprus, and losing to Denmark in the Euro 2000 playoffs which ended his tenure as manager. Tal Banin ( he, טל בנין; born March 7, 1971) is an Israeli retired football player and currently the manager of Maccabi Ahi Nazareth. Banin played as a defensive midfielder. A captain for the Israeli National Team for many years, Banin was also the only Israeli player to ever play in the Italian Serie A until 2011, when Palermo signed Eran Zahavi. Baruch Dego (or Barukh, he, ברוך דגו; born 28 March 1982) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli former association footballer, who played for the Israel national team.
