Hunan Avetisyan ( hy, Հունան Ավետիսյան, russian: Уна́н Мкрти́чович Аветися́н; 20 July 1914 – 16 September 1943) was a Soviet Union, Soviet Red Army senior sergeant from the 89th Rifle Division (Soviet Union), 89th Rifle Division who sacrificed his life by covering the embrasure of a Nazi Germany, German machine gun pillbox with his body so that his fellow soldiers could keep moving against the enemy in the Novorossiysk-Taman Operation of the Battle of the Caucasus. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and Order of Lenin in recognition of his sacrifice by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in May 1944. Minas Avetisyan (, July 20, 1928 — February 24, 1975) was an Armenian painter. Biography Minas Avetisyan was born in the village of Jajur, Soviet Armenia. His mother, Sofo, was a daughter of the priest from Kars. His father, Karapet, was a smith from Mush. His wife was Gayane Mamajanyan. The main theme of his works was Armenian nature, the nature of Jajur, the religion, poor people, mountains, fields etc.

Khachatur Avetisyan (14 April 1926–1996) (Armenian: Խաչատուր Ավետիսյան, ''Xačatur Avetisyan''; alternate transliterations include Avetisian or Avetissian) was an influential Armenian composer, conductor and kanun player. Early life and career Khachatur Mekhaki Avetisyan (Armenian: Խաչատուր Մեխակի Ավետիսյան) was born on April 14, 1926 in Leninakan, Armenian SSR (now Gyumri, Armenia). He graduated from the Yerevan State Musical Conservatory where he studied composition under professor Edvard Mirzoyan. At age 25 Avetisyan became the first Armenian composer honored with gold medals in the Berlin and Moscow international competitions.
