Avery Skinner
Avery Skinner (June 9, 1796 – November 24, 1876) was an American politician from New York. Life He was born on June 9, 1796, in Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, the son of Timothy Skinner and Ruth (Warner) Skinner. In 1816, he removed to Watertown, New York. On June 9, 1822, he married Elizabeth Lathrop Huntington (1802–1833), and they had four children. In 1823, the family moved to a place which Skinner named Union Square (now a hamlet called Maple View), in the town of Mexico. Skinner built, and then kept, an inn at Union Square. From 1826 to 1837, he was Treasurer of Oswego County. From 1828 to 1839, he was an associate judge of the Oswego County Court. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Oswego Co.) in 1832 and 1833. He was Postmaster of Union Square from 1833 until his death, with a short interruption of three months. Oswego County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 117,525. The county seat is Oswego. The county name is from a Mohawk-language word meaning "the pouring out place", referring to the point at which the Oswego River feeds into Lake Ontario at the northern edge of the county in the city of Oswego. Oswego County is part of the Syracuse, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. History When counties were established in the British colony of New York in 1683, the present Oswego County was part of Albany County. This was an enormous county, including the northern part of what is now New York state as well as all of the present state of Vermont and, in theory, extending westward to the Pacific Ocean. Orville Robinson
Orville Robinson (October 28, 1801 – December 1, 1882) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. From 1843 to 1845, he serves one term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Joel Turrill
Joel Turrill (February 22, 1794 – December 28, 1859) was a judge, politician, and diplomat from New York. From 1833 to 1837, he served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. Life Turrill was born February 22, 1794 in Shoreham, Vermont and attended the common school. He later graduated from Middlebury College in 1816. He studied law in Newburgh, New York and later moved to Oswego, New York to practice after being admitted to the bar in 1819.
