Average Call Duration
The average call duration (ACD) is a measurement in telecommunications that reflects an average length of telephone calls transmitted on telecommunication networks. The measurement is typically based on the reporting by telecommunication equipment via call detail records. Samples are collected to determine traffic demand and forecast call volumes, serving also as a tool for infrastructure monitoring of switches and cables. Depending on the type of call being made, ACD can be used as a proxy measure of call quality. Telecommunication Network
A telecommunications network is a group of nodes interconnected by telecommunications links that are used to exchange messages between the nodes. A call detail record (CDR) is a data record produced by a telephone exchange or other telecommunications equipment that documents the details of a telephone call or other telecommunications transactions (e.g., text message) that passes through that facility or device. The record contains various attributes of the call, such as time, duration, completion status, source number, and destination number. It is the automated equivalent of the paper toll tickets that were written and timed by operators for long-distance calls in a manual telephone exchange. Erlang (unit)
The erlang (symbol E) is a dimensionless unit that is used in telephony as a measure of offered load or carried load on service-providing elements such as telephone circuits or telephone switching equipment. A single cord circuit has the capacity to be used for 60 minutes in one hour. Full utilization of that capacity, 60 minutes of traffic, constitutes 1 erlang. Carried traffic in erlangs is the average number of concurrent calls measured over a given period (often one hour), while offered traffic is the traffic that would be carried if all call-attempts succeeded. How much offered traffic is carried in practice will depend on what happens to unanswered calls when all servers are busy. Mean opinion score (MOS) is a measure used in the domain of Quality of Experience and telecommunications engineering, representing overall quality of a stimulus or system. It is the arithmetic mean over all individual "values on a predefined scale that a subject assigns to his opinion of the performance of a system quality".
