Aventurera (1950 Film)
''Aventurera'' ("Adventuress" in English) is a 1950 Mexican drama film directed by Alberto Gout and starring Ninón Sevilla and Andrea Palma. It's considered a masterpiece of the ''Rumberas film''. The film features Pedro Vargas and Ana María González as club singers. It was shot at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico City with sets designed by the art director Manuel Fontanals. Plot The quiet life of the young Elena ( Ninón Sevilla), changes dramatically when her mother runs off with her lover, causing the suicide of her father. Too depressed to remain in Chihuahua, Elena accepts a job as a secretary in Ciudad Juárez. A string of employers sexually harass her and she fights off each one. Hungry and still looking for work, Elena bumps into an old friend, Lucio ( Tito Junco), who takes her to dinner at a cabaret, promising her a secretarial job and getting her drunk on expensive champagne. Maribel Guardia (; born Maribel Del Rocío Fernández García on May 29, 1959, in San José, Costa Rica) is a Costa Rican-Mexican actress, model, singer and TV hostess. She was winner of Miss Costa Rica 1978 and contestant in Miss Universe 1978. Miss Universe and Miss World Guardia was elected Miss Costa Rica in 1978, going on to represent her country at the Miss Universe 1978 beauty pageant (did not place but was selected as Miss Photogenic), and the Miss World 1978 beauty pageant (placed as a top 15 semi-finalist). The Miss Universe pageant had been held in Acapulco, and she received offers by Televisa producer Sergio Bustamante to develop a career there, but she returned to her country.
