Avenger (Star Trek)
''Avenger'' is a ''Star Trek'' novel by William Shatner (co-written with Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens), depicting the events shortly after the feature film ''Star Trek Generations'' and the previous " Shatnerverse" novel '' The Return''. It is a direct sequel to the latter, and forms part of the "Shatnerverse" collection of novels, being the third novel written by Shatner for the ''Trek'' series of novels. It was published in 1997 by Pocket Books. Plot summary The Federation must contain a "virogen" (plague) that is killing plant life, damaging animal young, and killing people on several vital systems that collectively supply food for the entire Federation. ''Avenger'' opens with the Federation trying to maintain a strict quarantine to contain the spread of the virogen as the Federation's reserves run low. William Shatner
William Shatner (born March 22, 1931) is a Canadian actor. In a career spanning seven decades, he is best known for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the ''Star Trek'' franchise, from his 1965 debut as the captain of the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701), ''Enterprise'' in the Where No Man Has Gone Before, second pilot of the Star Trek: The Original Series, first ''Star Trek'' television series to his final appearance as Captain Kirk in the seventh ''Star Trek'' feature film, ''Star Trek Generations'' (1994). Shatner began his screen acting career in Canadian films and television productions before moving into guest-starring roles in various US television shows. ''Star Trek'' uniforms are costumes worn by actors portraying personnel of a fictitious Starfleet in various television series and films in the ''Star Trek'' science fiction franchise. The costume design often changed in the various series, to represent different time periods, and for reasons of appearance and comfort. Sometimes different styles were deliberately mixed to enhance the sense of time travel or alternative universes. Original series The original uniform designs were the product of costume designer Bill Theiss. These uniforms consisted of a colored top and dark pants, with significant variations between the designs used in the pilot episodes and the rest of the series.
