Avelino Valencia
Avelino Valencia (born November 12, 1988) is an American Democratic politician who is currently serving as a member of the California State Assembly for the 68th district since 2022. Previously, he was a member of the Anaheim City Council. Early life and career Valencia was born on November 12, 1988 in Anaheim, California to Mexican immigrants. He graduated from Katella High School and from Fullerton College, San Jose State University, and Johns Hopkins University. He worked for Tom Daly as a staffer from 2016 to 2022. Political career In 2020, Valencia ran for Anaheim City Council to replace the termed-out Lucille King, winning the election against Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustee President Annemarie Randle-Trejo and activist Jeannine Robbins. Steven Seokho Choi (; born January 15, 1944) is an American politician who served as a member of the California State Assembly representing the 68th Assembly District from 2016 to 2022. A Republican from Orange County, California, he previously served two terms as Mayor of Irvine, California. In 1998, he became the first Asian-American elected to the Irvine Unified School Board and served two consecutive terms there before becoming the first Asian American to have been elected to a four-year term on the Irvine City Council and one of two Korean Americans on the council. Early life and education Steven Choi was born in 1944 in Naju area of Jollanamdo, South Korea during Japanese occupation of Korea. Choi earned his B.A. from Kyung Hee University in 1966. Tom Daly (born July 26, 1954) is an American politician who served in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat who represented the 69th Assembly District, which encompassed central Orange County, including the cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Orange. Prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2012, Daly served as Orange County Clerk-Recorder, as well as Mayor of Anaheim. He first sought elected office in 1986 for the Anaheim Union High School District. Early life and career A native of Orange County, Daly was born and raised in Anaheim. He attended four local schools, starting in kindergarten at Lincoln Elementary, then moving on to St. Anthony's, Sycamore Junior High, and Anaheim High.
