Ave Maria (1984 Film)
''Ave Maria'' is a 1984 French drama film directed by Jacques Richard, who co-wrote screenplay with Paul Gégauff. Plot Fifteen-year-old Ursula awakens to sensuality with Paul, a teenager of her age. She lives in a small village, in a fairly closed environment, strongly steeped in religion. The inhabitants of this village live under the domination of the defrocked priest Adolphe Éloi, whom everyone calls "the Holy Father". The latter and his companion Berthe Granjeux, "the Holy Mother", try to subdue the young girl who is truly the only one who does not accept their tyranny. They try to make her feel guilty, and it is out of revolt that the teenager imposes herself and opposes them with increasingly perverse tendencies. On Christmas Eve, Adolphe Éloi’s "faithful" are on trial. During this night dedicated to exorcism, Ursula must undergo an avalanche of corporal punishment intended to cleanse her of all her sins. Jacques Richard (director)
Joseph Alfred Gilles Jacques Richard (October 7, 1952 – October 8, 2002) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Atlanta Flames, Buffalo Sabres, and Quebec Nordiques. After an impressive junior career, Richard was considered a potential NHL superstar, but, except for a single season late in his career, he failed to live up to the promise. He led a troubled life both in hockey and after. Six years after retiring, in 1989, he was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine and then in 2002, Richard died in a car accident driving back from a party celebrating his 50th birthday. Jorge Arriagada (born 1943) is a Chilean film composer. He is perhaps best known for his long-term collaboration with director Raúl Ruiz (director), Raúl Ruiz. He has also worked with directors Patricio Guzman, Barbet Schroeder and Olivier Assayas. Biography Jorge Arriagada was born on August 20, 1943 in Santiago, Chile, Santiago. He studied composition and orchestral conduction at the National Conservatory of Music in Santiago. Paul Gégauff
Paul Gégauff (10 August 1922 – 24 December 1983) was a French screenwriter, actor, and director. He collaborated with director Claude Chabrol on 14 films. Among his films are ''Les Biches'', ''Plein Soleil'' and the autobiographical '' Une Partie de Plaisir''. In 1962, he and René Clement received an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America as the screenwriters for ''Plein Soleil'', which was named Best Foreign Language Film. His first marriage to film producer and actress Danièle Gégauff ended in divorce. They had a daughter actress and singer, Clémence Gégauff. He died after being stabbed by his second wife, Coco Ducados, on Christmas Eve 1983. Chabrol once said of Gégauff: "When I want cruelty, I go off and look for Gégauff.
