Avdotya Timofeyeva
Avdotia Timofeyeva (1739-?), was a Russian ballerina. She belonged to the first group of ballet dancers in the history of Russian ballet. Timofejeva was a part of the first group of ballet students trained by the founder of the Russian ballet, Jean-Baptiste Landé, and was given a position in the ballet of the Imperial theatres in 1748. Both females and males can practice ballet; however, dancers have a strict hierarchy and strict gender roles. Jean-Baptiste Landé
Jean-Baptiste Landé (died 26 February 1748) was a French ballet dancer, active in Sweden, Denmark and Russia. He is the founder of the Russian Ballet Mariinsky Ballet. Sweden Landé was employed at the Polish royal court in Dresden when he was engaged by King Frederick I of Sweden in 1721. He was appointed dancing master of the Swedish court and in 1723 he became the director of the French Opera-Theatre in Bollhuset in Stockholm, which he named ''L'Académie royale de musique et de danse''. In 1726, he was a guest ballet master at the first theatre in Denmark, the Lille Grönnegade theatre (1722-1728), where he performed with his wife. Giovanni Battista Locatelli (opera Director)
Giovanni Battista Locatelli (7 January 1713 – 14 March 1785) was an Italian opera director, impresario and owner of a private opera company. Locatelli was court poet at Bonn in 1741. From 1748 to 1756 he presented opera productions in Prague, including works by Gluck to libretti by Metastasio. He presented other operas in Dresden as well in the 1750s. He went bankrupt in 1757 and left for Russia to relaunch his career as an impresario. In 1757 he and his troupe were invited to St. Petersburg. They put on an opera every week for the court, and two to three times a week they were allowed to give open public performances. The repertoire was mostly of Italian opera buffa, including one titled ''Sanctuary of the Gods''. The Empress and Grand Duke Peter each attended at least one performance. Antonio Sacco
Antonio Sacchi (1708–1788) was an Italian improvisational actor, renowned for his performance as the Commedia dell'arte stock character Truffaldino. Sacchi's lasting influence was in requesting playwright Carlo Goldoni to lay a dramatic structure to his improvised routines, with the resulting plays '' Truffaldino's 32 Mishaps'' (1738–40), '' Truffaldino's Son Lost and Found'' (1746), and the masterpiece ''A Servant of Two Masters'' (1745–53) being the best permanent record of what was an impromptu and momentary art form. This is a list of ballet dancers from the Russian Empire, Soviet Union, and Russian Federation, including both ethnic Russians and people of other ethnicities. This list includes as well those who were born in these three states but later emigrated, and those who were born elsewhere but immigrated to the country and performed there for a significant portion of their careers. The original purpose of the ballet in Russia was to entertain the royal court. The first ballet company was the Imperial School of Ballet in St. Petersburg in the 1740s.
