Autopista AP-1
The Autopista AP-1 (also known in Spanish as ''Autopista del Norte'') is a Spanish '' autopista''. It has two separate sections: the first from Burgos to Armiñón, and the second from Etxabarri Ibiña (a hamlet close to Vitoria-Gasteiz) to Eibar. In Eibar, at the ''Malzaga'' junction, AP-1 meets Autopista AP-8, which connects with Irun and the French border. The first section became toll-free in 2018. Burgos
Burgos () is a city in Spain located in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is the capital and most populated municipality of the province of Burgos. Eibar
Eibar ( eu, Eibar, es, Éibar) is a city and municipality within the province of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country of Spain. It is the head town of Debabarrena, one of the '' eskualde / comarca'' of Gipuzkoa. Eibar has 27,138 inhabitants ( Eustat, 2018). An ''autovía'' is one of two classes of major highway in the Spanish road system similar to a British motorway or an American freeway. It is akin to the autopista, the other major highway class, but has fewer features and is never a toll road. Some distinguishing features of an ''autovía'' are that it must be divided by a median, it must have restricted access, and it cannot be crossed by other roads.
