Description The small shell is very solid, subcylindrical or claviform. The sculpture consists of nodose ribs that do not attain the suture, and fine spiral threads which are most dense at the summit of the whorl. There is no epidermis. The protoconch consists of two smooth and elevate whorls. The aperture is wide, without varix or internal armature. The outer lip is simple. The wide sinus is U-shaped, its right margin resting on a massive insertion callus. The fasciole is indistinguishable. Distribution This marine genus occurs off Australia and New Zealand. One species is found in the Atlantic Ocean off St. Helena. Species Species wit ...

Austrodrillia Dimidiata
''Austrodrillia dimidiata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Horaiclavidae. It was formerly included within the family Turridae. Description The length of the shell attains 7.9 mm, its diameter 2 mm. (Description by Joseph Verco) The solid, elongate-fusiform shell consists of whorls, including the blunt protoconch, which merges into the spire insensibly. The first whorl and a half are smooth and rather flat; the next is scarcely convex, and has at first distant invalid axial angulations, which gradually become more numerous and costulate. In the next whorl they become more distant again, and remain throughout the shell as feeble axial angulations which are just visible when looking at the shell from the apex. The spire-whorls are subconvex, subangulate just below the middle, and have the upper fourth somewhat adpressed just below the simple impressed suture. The aperture is oblique oblong-ovate. The siphonal canal is short, w ...

Austrodrillia Angasi
''Austrodrillia angasi'', common name Angas's turrid, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Horaiclavidae. It was previously classified within the family Turridae. Description The length of the shell attains 16 mm. The shell has a brownish olivaceous color. It contains 9 whorls. The embryonal whorls are smooth. The others contain from seven to ten short longitudinal ribs forming a tuberculated shoulder. The surface often shows minute revolving striae. The aperture is chestnut-brown. Sometimes there is a brown band below the middle of the body whorl The body whorl is part of the morphology of the shell in those gastropod mollusks that possess a coiled shell. Description The length of the attains 8.5 mm, its diameter 3 mm. The solid, rugged shell has an elongate-fusiform shape. It contains whorls, including the protoconch of one whorl and a half, smooth, round, and blunt. The whorls on the spire are sloping, scarcely concave in the upper part, convex in the lower. The suture is distinct, with a narrow adpressed margin. The body whorl is concavely attenuated at the base. The aperture is obliquely oval and shortly contracted posteriorly. The siphonal canal is short, open and barely notched. The outer lip is sharp, slightly ascending at the suture. The posterior sinus is deep, rather narrow, separated from the suture by a distance equal to its width, then convex, with an anterior shallow sinus at the base of the siphonal canal. The inner lip is inconspicuous, ...

Horaiclavidae
Horaiclavidae is a family of predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Conoidea. In 2011 this family was split off from the family Pseudomelatomidae (formerly the subfamily Crassispirinae McLean, 1971) by Bouchet P., Kantor Yu.I., Sysoev A. & Puillandre N. in their publication "A new operational classification of the Conoidea". It forms a clade together with the family Clavatulidae. It has many characters in common with the family Pseudomelatomidae, except the smaller shell with a low spire, the short siphonal canal and a weak or absent spiral sculpture. The radular formula is 1-0-0-0-1, but some species in this family lack a radula. Genera Genera within the family Horaiclavidae include: * '' Anacithara'' Hedley, 1922 * '' Anguloclavus'' Shuto, 1983 * '' Aoteadrillia'' Powell, 1942 * '' Asperosculptura'' Ardovini, Poppe & Tagaro, 2021 * '' Austrocarina'' Laseron, 1954 * '' Austrodrillia'' Hedley, 1918 * ''Buchema'' Corea, 1934 * '' Carinapex'' Dall, 1 ...
