The Austrian national women's ice hockey team represents Austria at the International Ice Hockey Federation's IIHF World Women's Championships and is controlled by . Austria has 644 female players in 2011. Tournament record Olympic Games The women's team of Austria has never qualified for an Olympic tournament. World Championship The Austrian team participated in the World championship for the first time in 2004 (in Division III). That same year, Austria was promoted to Division II. 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The Division I Group A tournament was held at DNB Arena in Stavanger, Norway, from 7 to 13 April 2013. The Division I Group B was contested from 8 to 14 April 2013 at Patinoire Iceberg in Strasbourg, France. The winners of the Division I Group A were initially presumed to be promoted to the 2015 Top Division. However, with the Divisions I and II playing in an Olympic year, and the eight Olympic entries being in none of those tournaments, it was determined that the last placed Olympic team will play a challenge series with the 2014 Division I Group A champion for promotion to the 2015 Top Division. Jari Risku (born 11 February 1966) is a Finnish ice hockey coach, currently serving as head coach of HPK Kiekkonaiset in the Naisten Liiga. He had a brief career as a professional ice hockey defenceman with Jokerit during 1984 to 1987, appearing in a total of 41 SM-liiga games across three seasons. Coaching career Risku most recently served as head coach of the Austrian national team for the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I Group A and was previously head coach of KMH Budapest in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) during the 2018–19 season. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. The 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I comprised two international ice hockey tournaments of the 2022 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The Group A tournament was played in Angers, France, from 24 to 30 April and the Group B tournament in Katowice, Poland, from 8 to 14 April 2022.
