Australian String Quartet
The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) is a chamber music group founded in 1985 and based at the University of Adelaide, South Australia. It delivers an artistic program of performances, workshops, commissions, digital content and education projects across Australia and abroad. The quartet performs on a matched set of string instruments hand crafted by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini between c.1743-1784 in Italy. The earliest of these is a cello (c. 1743), and a violin (1748-49), both made in Piacenza. The viola (1783) and another violin (1784) were made in Turin. The ASQ regularly tours Australia and the world. The current members arDale Barltrop(violin)Francesca Hiew(violin)Christopher Cartlidge(viola) anMichael Dahlenburg(cello). Scott Hicks (director)
Robert Scott Hicks (born 4 March 1953), known as Scott, is an Australian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known as the screenwriter and director of '' Shine'', the biopic of pianist David Helfgott. For this, Hicks was nominated for two Academy Awards. Anne Cawrse ( "coarse"; born 23 January 1981) is an Australian composer based in South Australia. she is on the composition staff at Elder Conservatorium of Music. Early life and education Anne Cawrse was born on 23 January 1981 After growing up in Freeling, South Australia, she moved to Adelaide to study composition at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, where she completed her PhD in 2008. Career In 2021, Cawrse became the curator of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra festival "She Speaks", a classical music festival with a focus on music written by female composers. In 2022, she co-curated the festival with Anna Goldsworthy. In 2022, Cawrse's album ''Advice to a Girl'' was released on ABC Classics. APRA Music Awards Of 2021
The APRA Music Awards of 2021 are the 39th annual series, known as APRA Awards. The awards are given in a series of categories in three divisions and in separate ceremonies throughout the year: the APRA Music Awards, Art Music Awards and Screen Music Awards. The APRA Music Awards are provided by APRA AMCOS; nominations were revealed on 30 March 2021, and the ceremony followed on 28 April 2021. Andrew Ford (born 1957) is an English-born Australian composer, writer and radio presenter, known for '' The Music Show'' on Radio National. Biography Andrew Ford was born in 1957 in Liverpool, UK. Ford was composer-in-residence with the Australian Chamber Orchestra (1992–94), held the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composer Fellowship from 1998 to 2000 and was awarded a two-year fellowship by the Music Board of the Australia Council for the Arts for 2005 to 2006. He was appointed composer-in-residence at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2009. Beyond composing, Ford has been an academic in the Faculty of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong (1983–95). He has written widely on music and published seven books.
