Australian Society Of Archivists
The Australian Society of Archivists is a professional organization of archivists in Australia. The Australian Library Association had an archives section between 1951 and 1973. Significant persons in the starting of the society include Phyllis Mander-Jones, and Robert Sharman who became the editor of the journal ''Archives and Manuscripts'' The inaugural meeting of the Society was held at the Australian National University in April 1975. The first biennial conference was held in 1977. Journal The Society publishes a professional and scholarly journal called ''Archives and Manuscripts'' (three issues per year, currently published through Taylor & Francis). Australian Library And Information Association
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), formerly the Australian Institute of Librarians and Library Association of Australia, is the peak professional organisation for the Australian library and information services sector. Founded in 1937, its headquarters are in Canberra. ALIA publishes a quarterly scholarly journal, ''Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association'', and a bimonthly news magazine for members, ''INCITE''. Phyllis Mander-Jones
Phyllis Mander-Jones MBE (2 January 1896 – 19 February 1984) was an Australian born librarian and archivist who helped establish the archival profession in Australia. Early life Phyllis Mander-Jones was born in Homebush, Sydney, Australia, the eldest child of physician George Mander Jones and his wife Margaret Fleming (née Arnott). Both parents had commercial connections: George was the grandson of retailer David Jones, whilst Margaret was the daughter of Australia's leading biscuit manufacturer, William Arnott. The young Mander-Jones family had two stints in England between 1899-1906, before settling in the Sydney suburb of Wahroonga. She and her sister Mildred were educated at nearby Abbotsleigh an Independent Girls’ School, while her three brothers: Evan, Burnett and Geoffrey went to Shore School. Loris is the common name for the strepsirrhine mammals of the subfamily Lorinae (sometimes spelled Lorisinae) in the family Lorisidae. Anne-Marie Schwirtlich
Anne-Marie Lucienne Schwirtlich , is an Australian librarian who was the Director-General of the National Library of Australia from 2011 to 2017. In 2015, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Born in Bombay in India to a French-speaking Mauritian mother and a German-speaking Czech father, Anne-Marie Schwirtlich spent her early years living in Bombay where she attended the Pck Presentation Convent Primary School in Kodaikanal. With her parents she migrated to Australia in 1972 and attended Turramurra High School in Sydney in New South Wales. She completed her education at Macquarie University in Sydney where she took her Bachelor of Arts degree in ancient history.
