Touring Car Racing
Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition with heavily modified road-going cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for entertaining, well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. As well as short "sprint" races, many touring car series include one or more Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance races, which last anything from 3 to 24 hours and are a test of reliability and pit crews as much as car, driver speed, and consistency. Paul Stokell
Paul Stokell (born 8 March 1968 in Tasmania) is an Australian racing driver. Highly decorated in every category he has competed, Stokell has been a race and multiple championship winning driver in open wheel, sportscar racing and tarmac rallying, consistently since the early 1990s and remains so today having won back to back Australian Targa Championship in 2018/2019. While Tasmanian born, today Stokell is Queensland based where he has operated a performance driving school since 2008, and has been involved with the Sherrin Motor Sport Porsche Carrera Cup team taking their maiden victory in 2007. 2009 Australian Mini Challenge
The 2009 Australian Mini Challenge delivered by Pizza Capers was the second running of the one make championship. It began on 26 March at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit and ended on 2 December at the new Homebush Street Circuit. A winner of two rounds during the season, Paul Stokell won the championship ahead of Chris Alajajian, who remained in title contention despite not winning any of the series' eight rounds. 2011 Australian Manufacturers' Championship
The 2011 Australian Manufacturers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing championship for car manufacturers. It was the 26th manufacturers title to be awarded by CAMS and the 17th to be contested under the Australian Manufacturers' Championship name. The championship, which was open to modified production touring cars, also incorporated three drivers titles, the 2011 Australian Production Car Championship, the 2011 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship and the 2011 Australian Endurance Championship. A major change from the 2010 championship saw a greater emphasis on longer races. Only the opening round of the series at Phillip Island comprising two short sprint races. One-design racing is a racing method which may be adopted in sports which use complex equipment, whereby all vehicles have identical or very similar designs or models, avoiding the need for a handicap system. 2010 Sydney Telstra 500
The 2010 Sydney 500 (commercially titled 2010 Sydney Telstra 500) was the fourteenth and final event of the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series and the second running of the Sydney 500. It was held on the weekend of the December 3 to 5 on the Homebush Street Circuit in Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney, New South Wales.
