Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) is the Commonwealth Games Association for Australia, and is responsible for representing and promoting the Commonwealth Sport movement in the country, and organises the participation of Australia at the Commonwealth Games, athletes at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. It changed it name from the Australian Commonwealth Games Association to Commonwealth Games Australia in 2015. The Commonwealth Games have been held in Australia five times, most recently the 2018 Commonwealth Games were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Queensland. Arthur Tunstall
Arthur Tunstall (22 February 1922 – 11 February 2016) was an Australian and international sport administrator, particularly in relation to boxing and the Commonwealth Games. His Sport Australia Hall of Fame citation read that he was a "pioneer voluntary Australian sports administrator and the key person in amateur boxing and the Australian Commonwealth Games movement across the second half of last century." Personal Tunstall was born in 1922 in Australia. He left school at the age of 14 and by the age of 16, he was working as a scale-making apprentice. At 25, he purchased a sandwich shop. After 19 years, he moved into insurance, which he sold for 14 years. He met his wife Peggy at Redleaf Pool, Double Bay and they were married for 67 years until her death in January 2013. Peggy's support for her husband's work resulted in her being made a life member of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association and being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Richard Coombes
Richard Coombes (18 March 1858 – 15 April 1935) was a journalist and father of amateur athletics in Australia. Coombes was born at Hampton Court, Middlesex, England the son of Richard Coombes, hotelkeeper, and his wife Ellen, ''née'' Parsons. Coombes was educated at Hampton Grammar School, he was for some years in an insurance office, and became well known as an amateur runner and walker. He was captain of the Harefield Hare and Hounds Club, a champion walker of the London Athletic Club and captain of the Kingston upon Thames Bicycle Club. Coombes emigrated to Sydney in 1886 and took up journalism, becoming a contributor to the ''Referee''. In 1888 he founded the New South Wales Amateur Athletic Association, introduced cross country running, and formed the Amateur Walkers Club. ''The Referee'' was a newspaper published in Sydney, Australia from 1886 to 1939. History ''The Referee'' was first published on 20 October 1886 as ''The Sydney Referee'' by Edward Lewis. Perry Rothrock Crosswhite AM (born 22 September 1947) is a former Australian Olympic basketballer and leading sport administrator. Personal He was born on 22 September 1947 in Washington, D.C. He moved to Australia in 1969 to play basketball. He married Janice Steel in 1970. He was naturalised in 1971. His wife Janice Crosswhite plays a major role in the promotion of women's sport in Australia and overseas. They have three daughters and a son. Two of his children, Ian and Anna, have played high level basketball in Australia. Basketball career Crosswhite played collegiate basketball (1966–1969) at Davidson College for coach Lefty Driesell. Sam Coffa
Salvatore "Sam" Coffa, AM, JP (born 15 January 1936) is a former Australian weightlifter and long-time sporting administrator. He was also actively involved in community affairs, and was a councillor and mayor of the former City of Hawthorn, Melbourne. Weightlifting Sam Coffa's first weightlifting competition was at the Hawthorn Boys' Club Annual Display at the Hawthorn Town Hall, in 1954. He then represented Australia at the 1954 World Championships in Perth; then at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games; and the 1964 Summer Olympics. Ray Godkin
Raymond "Ray" George Godkin OAM (born 1934) is an Australian sports administrator particularly in the sport of cycling. He was President of the Australian Cycling Federation and the Australian Commonwealth Games Association. Personal Godkin was born in Sydney in 1934. After leaving school, he was apprenticed in the engineering field. He joined the New South Wales Police at the age of 26. In 1982, he assisted in establishing the N.S.W. Police Accident Investigation Squad and retired in 1989 at the age of 55 to concentrate on his cycling administration roles. He was awarded National Medals for his policing career.
