The Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1958 for the purpose of providing a forum for Australian cinematographers to further develop their skills through mutual co-operation. Location Its National Headquarters and clubhouse is located in North Sydney. Mission The ACS states the following aims: *To keep members informed about the latest technology with new equipment demonstrations and ideas through meetings and seminars. *To further the advancement of Cinematography in all fields and give due recognition to the outstanding work performed by Australian Cinematographers. *To provide a forum for Cinematographers to meet with other members of the industry to discuss and exchange ideas, promote friendship and better understanding of each other's industry role. Cinematography Organizations
Cinematography (from ancient Greek κίνημα, ''kìnema'' "movement" and γράφειν, ''gràphein'' "to write") is the art of motion picture (and more recently, electronic video camera) photography. Cinematographers use a lens to focus reflected light from objects into a real image that is transferred to some image sensor or light-sensitive material inside a movie camera. These exposures are created sequentially and preserved for later processing and viewing as a motion picture. Capturing images with an electronic image sensor produces an electrical charge for each pixel in the image, which is electronically processed and stored in a video file for subsequent processing or display. Greig Fraser, , , (born 3 October 1975) is an Australian cinematographer who studied at the RMIT University. His most well-known work includes the films ''Zero Dark Thirty'' (2012), ''Lion'' (2016), ''Rogue One'' (2016), ''Vice'' (2018), ''Dune'' (2021), and ''The Batman'' (2022). Dion Beebe A.C.S. A.S.C. ( ; born 18 May 1968) is an Australian-South African cinematographer. Originally from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, his family moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 1972. Dion studied cinematography at the Australian Film Television and Radio School from 1987 to 1989. Beebe was nominated for an Academy Award and BAFTA for his work on Rob Marshall's '' Chicago'', and won the 2006 Academy Award for his work on the director's later ''Memoirs of a Geisha''. He is known for his use of stylized, highly saturated colour palettes and for his experimental use of high-speed digital video on Michael Mann's '' Collateral'' (for which he won a BAFTA for Best Cinematography) and ''Miami Vice''. ''The Far Side of the World'' is the tenth historical novel in the Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian, first published in 1984. The story is set during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. The story from ''Treason's Harbour'' has several points resolved, as to the success of Maturin's work identifying the French spies, the trap that Aubrey sailed out of but HMS ''Pollux'' did not, and Aubrey resolving the tension between him and Lieutenant Fielding, who escaped the worst French prisoner-of-war facility.
