Commonwealth Games Australia
Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) is the Commonwealth Games Association for Australia, and is responsible for representing and promoting the Commonwealth Sport movement in the country, and organises the participation of athletes at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. It changed it name from the Australian Commonwealth Games Association to Commonwealth Games Australia in 2015. The Commonwealth Games have been held in Australia five times, most recently the 2018 Commonwealth Games were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Anna Meares
Anna Maree Devenish Meares (born 21 September 1983) is an Australian retired track cyclist. She currently resides in Adelaide in South Australia where the Australian Institute of Sport's Track Cycling program has its headquarters at the Adelaide Super-Drome. She has been the 500 metre track time trial world champion on four occasions, and a gold medallist at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. At the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships Meares took the gold in the keirin—her 11th world title in total, which made her the most decorated female track cyclist of all time. She was the flag-bearer and captain for the Australian team at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in keirin. Jessica Gallagher
Jessica Gallagher (born 14 March 1986) is an Australian Paralympic alpine skier, track and field athlete, tandem cyclist and rower. She was Australia's second female Winter Paralympian, and the first Australian woman to win a medal at the Winter Paralympics at the 2010 Vancouver Games. She competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, where she won a bronze medal in the women's giant slalom visually impaired. She is legally blind, and represents Australia internationally in three sports: skiing, athletics and cycling. Maeve Plouffe (born 8 July 1999) is an Australian professional racing cyclist. She rode in the women's team pursuit event and the women's individual pursuit event at the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Berlin, Germany. She was selected on the Australian women’s track endurance squad for the 2020 Summer Olympics. She was a member of the Women's pursuit team. Georgia Baker (born 21 September 1994) is an Australian professional racing cyclist. She rode in the women's team pursuit at the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Cycling career After taking a break from road racing in 2016 with the High5 Dream Team to focus on her Rio Olympics campaign, Orica-Scott announced signing Baker to race in the Women's World Tour team for 2017. In her first European race for the Orica-Scott team at the end of May, Baker was among the 90 non-finishers of 121 that started at Gooik–Geraardsbergen–Gooik. Cycling at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held between 29 July and 7 August 2022 at four different venues. There were 26 events altogether in cycling, making the sport third-highestt in terms of number of medals available. There were 20 events in track cycling (including four for para-cycling), two in mountain biking, two in road time trials and two in road racing. Matthew Glaetzer (born 24 August 1992) is an Australian track cyclist. Career He competed in the team sprint event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the 2012 World Championship in the team sprint with Scott Sunderland and Shane Perkins. Glaetzer represented Australia in the men's sprint, men's keirin, and men's team sprint events at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On 12 November 2017, at the World Cup competition in Manchester, Glaetzer became the first rider ever to break the 1:00-minute mark for 1 km time trial, at sea level velodrome. Matthew Richardson (born 17 April 1999) is an Australian track cyclist. He competed in the men's keirin, individual sprint and team sprint at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. His most successful event was the team sprint, where the Australians came fourth. Early years Richardson was born in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia for his father's work when he was nine years old. He grew up in Warwick, Western Australia.
