Austin Warren (baseball)
Austin Davis Warren (born February 5, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels organization. He made his MLB debut in 2021. Amateur career Warren attended Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In addition to being a starter, Warren also posted a .387 batting average with 55 RBIs throughout his high school career. After graduating high school, Warren spent two seasons at Wake Technical Community College as a pitcher and middle infielder. As a sophomore, he posted a .302 batting average with 14 RBIs, while also putting up a 2.69 ERA over 67 innings on the mound. Warren transferred to University of North Carolina Wilmington after his sophomore year. In his junior year, he went 2-5 with a 6.51 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1.
