Austbygde Church
Austbygde Church ( no, Austbygde kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Tinn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Austbygdi, Telemark, Austbygdi. It is one of the churches for the Tinn parish which is part of the Øvre Telemark prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1888 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 300 people. History Austbygde was formerly part of the Atrå Church parish, but it became its own church parish starting on 1 January 1888. Planning for a new church to serve the newly created parish began right away. The new church was designed by Jacob Wilhelm Nordan and the builder Gulbrand Johnsen from Nes, Akershus, Nes in Romerike was hired to lead the construction. Tinn Municipality
Tinn is a Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Telemark in the Counties of Norway, county of Vestfold og Telemark in Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional regions of Upper Telemark and Øst-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the List of cities in Norway, town of Rjukan. The parish of ''Tin(d)'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area of Hovin, Telemark, Hovin was separated from the municipality of Tinn in 1860, but it was merged back into the municipality of Tinn on 1 January 1964. Krossobanen is the oldest aerial tramway in Northern Europe. It was built in 1928 as a gift from Norsk Hydro.
