Auspace
Auspace Pty Ltd was an Australian aerospace company formed on 7 June 1982 as a joint-venture between Hawker de Havilland Australia and SA Matra Espace. It was primarily known for its work as a major contractor for the Keating National Space Program that took place between 1986 and 1996. In 2007 Auspace was acquired by the Nova Group, and was absorbed completely into the two10degrees Ltd. subsidiary in 2019. History Even before the National Space Program, Auspace was a large player in the Australian space industry, managing parts of the multi-million dollar UV-optical space telescope Starlab project. National Space Program
The National Space Program was a set of policies and organisations under the Hawke and Keating Governments created with the goals of developing a national space industry in Australia. When the Howard Government came to power in 1996 the program was abolished following the advice of the Bureau of Industry Economics. The National Space Program was generally considered a failure by most media after its demise. During its existence it was crippled by a lack of budget, and multiple white elephant projects. History Matra Marconi Space was established in 1990 as a joint venture between the space and telecommunication divisions of the Lagardère Group ( Matra Espace) and the GEC group ( Marconi Space Systems). The Plessey Company plc was a British electronics, defence and telecommunications company. It originated in 1917, growing and diversifying into electronics.
