Aurora Melbourne Central is a high residential skyscraper in Melbourne, Australia. It is Melbourne's third-tallest building and the fifth tallest building in Australia. Developed by Malaysian–based UEM Sunrise and designed by Elenberg Fraser, the project was first proposed in 2014, and received approval by then-Planning Minister Matthew Guy in October 2014. Previously named 224-252 La Trobe Street, after the address of the site, the project was later renamed to Aurora Melbourne Central after the natural light display aurora australis, and the shopping centre of the same name. La Trobe Street
La Trobe Street (also Latrobe Street) is a major street and thoroughfare in the city centre of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It runs roughly east–west and forms the northern boundary of Melbourne's central business district. The street was laid out as an extension of the original Hoddle Grid in 1839 and was named after Charles La Trobe. La Trobe Street extends from Victoria Street in the east to Harbour Esplanade in the west. Location La Trobe Street is home to a number of precincts and public and private spaces. The Carlton Gardens lie at the eastern end of the street, and the western end terminates at Victoria Harbour in the Docklands. Before Docklands was developed, La Trobe street terminated just beyond its intersection with Spencer Street. In 2000 the La Trobe Street Bridge opened to connect the street through to docklands, and tram lines were also extended accordingly. Eureka Tower
Eureka Tower is a skyscraper located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Construction began in August 2002 and the exterior was completed on 1 June 2006. The plaza was finished in June 2006 and the building was officially opened on 11 October 2006. The project was designed by Melbourne architectural firm Fender Katsalidis Architects and was built by Grocon (Grollo Australia). 120 Collins Street is a skyscraper in Collins Street, Melbourne central business district, Victoria, Australia. It was built from 1989 to 1991 and it comprises 50 levels of office accommodation and four levels of plant. The building was designed by architectural firm Hassell, in association with Daryl Jackson. Brisbane Skytower is a skyscraper at 222 Margaret Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The 90-storey residential tower is Brisbane's tallest building, and the sixth tallest building in Australia. It is also the largest residential building in the southern hemisphere.
