Aurelio Lomi
Aurelio Lomi (29 February 1556 – 1622) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance and early- Baroque periods, active mainly in his native town of Pisa, Tuscany. __NOTOC__ Biography He may have initially been trained by his father, Giovanni Battista Lomi, but soon he worked in Florence (1580-1590) under the painters Alessandro Allori, then Lodovico Cardi (known as Cigoli).Fabroni, page 371. He was the nephew of the painter Baccio Lomi. He painted in Pisa, Florence, Rome, and Genoa. He painted a ''St. Jerome'' (1595) for the Duomo of Pisa. In addition he painted frescoes of San Frediano and Santo Stefano. He painted an altarpiece for Santa Apollonia. He painted a ''St Anthony of Padua'' for the church of San Francesco di Casteletto in Genoa, and a ''Resurrection of Christ'' and ''Last Judgement'' for Santa Maria Assunta in Carignano. San Michele in Borgo is a Roman Catholic church in Pisa, region of Tuscany, Italy. History The church, together with monastery (which first belonged to the Benedictines, and, from the 12th century, the Camaldolese) was built in the late 10th to early 11th century outside the walls of the city, over an ancient temple dedicated to Mars.The name "Borgo" refers in fact to the settlement existing at the time outside the city. San Siro (Genoa)
San Siro is a Roman Catholic basilica located on the street of the same name, in the quartiere of the Maddalena in central Genoa, Liguria, Italy. History One of the oldest churches in the city, it occupies the site of a former church originally dedicated to the apostles. In later centuries, the church was renamed after St Syrus of Genoa, a beatified bishop. Originally the cathedral of Genoa, it stood outside of the original walls, and was vulnerable to attacks from Saracen pirates; the title of Cathedral was transferred to San Lorenzo. Santa Maria Assunta is a Renaissance church in Genoa, Italy. It is located in a residential sector called Carignano located on the hills just above the city center, thus the church is also known as ''Santa Maria Assunta di Carignano''. Structure and facade The church is on the Greek cross plan with four similar façades on each side. There are five domes and two squared-plan bell towers (four in the original design) at the Neoclassic main façade. The facade has two statues by Claude David. Interior decoration The interior is lavishly decorated by late Renaissance and Baroque artists. Domenico Fiasella
Domenico Fiasella (12 August 1589 – 19 October 1669) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, mainly active in Genoa. He was nicknamed ''Il Sarzana'', after his birthplace. Biography He was born in c, the son of Giovanni Fiasella, a silversmith, who, noting his skills apprenticed him as a boy of 11 years to work with Aurelio Lomi in Genoa, and from there he moved to work with Giovanni Battista Paggi. Around 1607 he left for Rome, where he frequented the ''Accademia del Nudo''. His ability was first recognized by Guido Reni and Ciriaco Mattei, which led Domenico Passignano and Cavalier D'Arpino to employ him. The Marchese Vincenzo Giustiniani commissioned paintings from him, including ''Christ Healing the Blind'' and ''Christ Raising the Son of the Widow of Nain'' (both of which were ultimately purchased by John Ringling and bequeathed to the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art upon his death).
