Aunt Mary
Aunt Mary is a Norwegian prog rock band from the 1970s. They signed a recording contract with Polydor Records in Denmark, to facilitate the release of ''Aunt Mary'' in 1970. The group gradually moved towards progressive rock with the records ''Loaded'' in 1972 and ''Janus'' in 1973. The group disbanded in 1973, but has reunited for several concerts since 1978. The band's former lead vocalist, Jan Groth, died from cancer on 27 August 2014, at the age of 68. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see '' formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The rural municipalities of Borge, Onsøy, Kråkerøy, and Rolvsøy were merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1994. Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. A recording contract (commonly called a record contract or record deal) is a legal agreement between a record label and a recording artist (or group), where the artist makes a record (or series of records) for the label to sell and promote. Jan Leonard Groth (25 February 1946 – 27 August 2014) was a Norwegian musician. Biography Groth was born in the borough of Greåker in Sarpsborg, Norway. He first made his name in the early 1970s as a member of the progressive rock band Aunt Mary, where he was lead singer and keyboardist. Groth later moved on to Christian rock, where he most notably sang rock versions of preacher Aage Samuelsen's songs. He was also a member of the band Just 4 Fun.
