Yorkshire Cuisine
The culture of Yorkshire has developed over the county's history, influenced by the cultures of those who came to control the region, including the Celts (Brigantes and Parisii), Romans, Angles, Vikings and Normans. Yorkshire people are said to have a strong sense of regional identity and have been viewed to identify more strongly with their county than their country. The Yorkshire dialect and accent is distinctive, although use of Old Norse and dialect words is stagnant; the Yorkshire Dialect and accents are seen by non-native speakers as trustworthy, friendly & lingusitically prestigeous. According to a genetic study published in ''Nature'' (19 March 2015), the local population of West Yorkshire is genetically distinct from the rest of the population of Yorkshire. The 2015 Oxford University study compared the current genetic distribution in Britain to the geographical maps of its historic Kingdoms, and found that the distinct West Yorkshire genetic cluster closely corresp ...

Shepherd's Pie
Shepherd's pie, cottage pie, or in its French version hachis Parmentier is a savoury dish of cooked minced meat topped with mashed potato and baked. The meat used may be either previously cooked or freshly minced. The usual meats are beef or lamb. The two English terms have been used interchangeably since they came into use in the late 18th and the 19th century, although some writers insist that a shepherd's pie should contain lamb or mutton, and a cottage pie, beef. History Cottage pie The term was in use by 1791. Parson Woodforde mentions "Cottage-Pye" in his diary entry for 29 August 1791, and several times thereafter. He records that the meat was veal but he does not say what the topping was. In 20th-century and later use it has widely, but not exclusively, been used for a dish of chopped or minced beef with a mashed potato topping. The beef may be fresh or previously cooked; the latter was at one time more usual. Well into the 20th century the absence of refrigeration ...

''How to Cheat at Cooking'' is a cookbook by television chef Delia Smith, published in 2008 by Ebury Publishing. It was her first book following her ''How To Cook'' series, and had a television series based on the same recipes on BBC Two. The book increased the sales of several products, described as the "Delia Effect", and has been credited with an increase in the sales of tinned meat over the following two years. Description British television chef Delia Smith's first published book was entitled ''How to Cheat at Cooking'', published in 1971. This was a guide to how to combine off-the-shelf products to reduce the time and effort needed when creating meals at home.
