The Auditor-General of New South Wales helps the Parliament of New South Wales hold government accountable for its use of public resources. The Auditor-General is responsible for audits of NSW Government agencies, universities, and NSW local government, and also provides certain assurance services for Commonwealth grants and payments to the State under Commonwealth legislation. The governor of New South Wales is the viceregal representative of the Australian monarch, King Charles III, in the state of New South Wales. The ''Empire'' was a newspaper published in Sydney, Australia. It was published from 28 December 1850 to 14 February 1875, except for the period from 28 August 1858 to 23 May 1859, when publication was suspended. It was later absorbed by '' The Evening News''. History Henry Parkes founded the ''Empire'' and was its editor/proprietor until the business failed in August 1858. William Lithgow (1 January 1784 – 11 June 1864) was educated at the University of Edinburgh, graduating as a Licentiate of the Church of Scotland. He was the Auditor-General of the colony of New South Wales in Australia. Lithgow was born in Scotland. He was an appointed member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 30 January 1829 to 30 April 1852. He was Auditor-General from 8 November 1824 to 30 April 1852. Lithgow died in St Leonards, New South Wales on 11 June 1864. The 2019 New South Wales state election was held on Saturday 23 March 2019 to elect the 57th Parliament of New South Wales, including all 93 seats in the Legislative Assembly and 21 of the 42 seats in the Legislative Council.
