Audio Antihero
Audio Antihero is a British independent record label formed in October 2009 and based in South East London. They have been the centerpiece of several radio BBC, PRI and international radio stories. History The label's first two releases, Nosferatu D2's ''We're Gonna Walk Around This City With Our Headphones on to Block Out the Noise'' and Benjamin Shaw's ''I Got the Pox, the Pox Is What I Got'', brought the label attention and proved popular with alternative press like Drowned in Sound, The Skinny and Pitchfork and radio stations such as BBC 6 Music, Triple R, Resonance FM and NME Radio. They also gained notable supporters in Gareth of Los Campesinos! and Nic Dalton of The Lemonheads. Hefner (band)
Hefner were a British indie rock band formed in east London in 1995. They were active from about 1996 until 2002; since then they have played together only once, for a tribute to the DJ John Peel, who was a strong supporter of theirs. History Hefner's roots stretch back to 1992, when Darren Hayman and Antony Harding met at art school in Kent. The band started playing live in 1995 and, after several line up changes, became a solo project of Darren Hayman. In 1996 he recorded a tape for Sticky Records (named '' The Devotion Chamber'') on which all instruments were played by Hayman himself. His friend from art school, Antony Harding, assisted, providing backing vocals. The band's first release was in April 1997 when the 7-inch single "A Better Friend" was released by Boogle Wonderland. Art Goblins
The Art Goblins are an English alternative rock band featuring Art Brut members Eddie Argos and Jasper "Jeff" Future. History The band was originally formed in Bournemouth in the 1990s by Argos when at sixth form college; after the initial members apart from Argos (vocals, vacuum cleaner) and Future (rhythm guitar) left to go to university they were replaced by Matt Ruffalo on guitar, Nicky Biscuit on keyboard, and Pab Gigolovski on bass guitar. The band became moribund when this second wave of members also left for university; Argos later formed Art Brut with Chris Chinchilla and Ian Catskilkin (another member of the Bournemouth music scene); when Chinchilla left he would be replaced with Future. Jonah Rzadzinski Matranga (born Jonah Sonz Matranga, August 11, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who has released a variety of solo material under his own name and onelinedrawing, and has previously been part of the bands Far and New End Original (an anagram of "onelinedrawing") and Gratitude. Jeffrey Lewis (born November 20, 1975) is an American singer-songwriter and comic book artist. Early life Lewis was born in New York City and grew up on the Lower East Side. He attended State University of New York at Purchase, graduating in 1997 with a degree in Literature. His Senior Literary Thesis was on the comic book ''Watchmen''. Johnny Foreigner are an indie rock four-piece from Birmingham, UK, consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Alexei Berrow, bassist and vocalist Kelly Parker (née Southern), drummer Junior Elvis Washington Laidley, and guitarist and visual artist Lewes Herriot. Fighting Kites
Fighting Kites were an English instrumental indie rock band from North London, England. They have been praised by Indie press and BBC radio for their unique approach to contemporary instrumental rock music, taking their influences from '60s pop/R&B outfits like The Shadows and Booker T & The MGs as well as Japanese Noise acts. Biography Fighting Kites began as a duo of Neil Debnam and Daniel Fordham in 2006, they issued one self-titled EP under this line-up before bringing bassist David Stewart into the fold. Paul Hawkins (musician)
Paul Hawkins is a London-based author and singer-songwriter who grew up near Bristol and has been a key figure in London's antifolk scene. He regularly records in collaboration with Death in Vegas and Dot Allison guitarist Ian Button (also formerly of the Thrashing Doves) and a 6-piece band under the name of Paul Hawkins & The Awkward Silences. Hawkins has also worked with the artist Alex Templeton-Ward, utilising his bass and synth work both live and on record.
