William Aubrey
William Aubrey (c. 1529 – 25 June 1595) was Regius Professor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford from 1553 to 1559, and was one of the founding Fellows of Jesus College, Oxford. He was also a Member of Parliament for various Welsh and English constituencies between 1554 and 1592. Early life and Oxford University Aubrey was born in Brecknockshire, Wales, the second of Thomas Aubrey, MD, of Cantreff. After being educated at what later became Christ College, Brecon, Aubrey went to Oxford University, becoming a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford in 1547. He obtained a BCL degree in 1549 and was appointed Principal of New Inn Hall, Oxford in 1550. In 1553 he succeeded Robert Weston as Regius Professor of Civil Law. Sam Aubrey
Sam Aubrey (June 15, 1922 – May 5, 2008) was the head coach of the Oklahoma State University men's basketball team between 1970 and 1973. Aubrey was the starting forward for the 1946 NCAA men's basketball champions, Oklahoma A&M University under coach Henry Iba. Early years, playing career, and military service Aubrey was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and attended Tulsa Central High School. He enrolled at Oklahoma A&M and was offered a partial scholarship by coach Iba. He won a letter as a sophomore for the 1941-42 Oklahoma A&M basketball team that won the Missouri Valley Conference championship. He currently plays American football as a placekicker for the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL). Aubrey (Albericus) de Vere (died circa 1112-1113) was a tenant-in-chief in England of William the Conqueror in 1086, as well as a tenant of Geoffrey de Montbray, bishop of Coutances and of Count Alan, lord of Richmond. Aubrey de Vere (''c.'' 1085 – May 1141) — also known as "Alberic sde Ver" and "Albericus ''regis camerarius''" (the king's chamberlain)— was the second of that name in England after the Norman Conquest, being the eldest surviving son of Aubrey de Vere and his wife Beatrice. Aubrey II served as one of the king's chamberlains and as a justiciar under kings Henry I and Stephen. Henry I also appointed him as sheriff of London and Essex and co-sheriff with Richard Basset of eleven counties. In 1130 he owed the king for various offenses including the escape of prisoners under his custody, 550 pounds and four palfreys. This implies he would have been in charge of prisoners on a regular basis. In June 1133, that king awarded the office of Lord Great Chamberlain to Aubrey and his heirs. Andrew Aubrey (died 1356) was an English merchant and politician, who served three terms as Lord Mayor of London during the reign of Edward III. Born the son of Roger and Denise Aubrey, he became a pepper factor and a member of the Guild of Pepperers, later the Worshipful Company of Grocers. Aubrey was elected one of the Sheriffs of London in 1331, served as an alderman from 1333 to 1355, and was elected mayor in 1339, 1340, and 1351. As alderman, he first represented Bread Street Ward, but in 1345 he removed to Cordwainer, where he served until his resignation in 1355. He was elected Member of Parliament for the City of London, as one of the two aldermanic representatives, in 1338 and 1340.
