Au (Schwarzwald)
Au is a municipality in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located a few kilometres south of Freiburg im Breisgau, in the south-western part of Baden-Württemberg. The municipality belongs to the administrative region of Hexental based in the neighbouring town of Merzhausen. Geography Location Au lies in the northern part of Hexental between Schönberg in the west and Black Forest to the east. Local communities The village of Au, Schönberg, Hof and the Hägenhof houses, and the Burghöfe, Finsterbach, Hasgelhöfe, Heimbachof, Kaischenhof, Kopfackerhof and Schwabenhöfe all belong to the municipality of Au. In the local area, there also are the abandoned village of Witraha and the abandoned castle of Obhusen. Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald (french: Arrondissement de Brisgau-Haute-Forêt-Noire) is a (district) in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fifty towns and municipalities with 133 settlements lie within the district. The district itself belongs to the region of Freiburg with the region of Southern Upper Rhine. The municipal offices are in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau which is almost entirely surrounded by Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, but is independent of it. In addition, the council has three satellite offices in Müllheim, Titisee-Neustadt and Breisach am Rhein. Merzhausen is a town in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Geography Location The northern and eastern part of Merzhausen is attached to the town of Freiburg im Breisgau. To the south, Merzhausen borders the municipality of Au, which belongs to the administrative region of Hexental and to the west, the municipality of Ebringen. Black Forest
The Black Forest (german: Schwarzwald ) is a large forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany, bounded by the Rhine Valley to the west and south and close to the borders with France and Switzerland. It is the source of the Danube and Neckar rivers. Its highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of above sea level. Emmendingen (district)
Emmendingen (German: ''Landkreis Emmendingen'') is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the west of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighbouring districts are (from north clockwise) Ortenaukreis, Schwarzwald-Baar, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and the district-free city Freiburg. To the west it borders the French ''département'' Bas-Rhin. History The district dates back to the ''Bezirksamt Emmendingen'', which was created in 1803 when the area became part of Baden. Horben is a village in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Geography Horben is located to the south of the city of Freiburg and east of the Hexental valley on the western slope of the Schauinsland mountain range.
