Attorney General Of Montana
The Montana Department of Justice is a state law enforcement agency of Montana. The Department is equivalent to the State Bureau of Investigation in other states. The Montana Attorney General, currently Republican Austin Knudsen, heads the agency. Responsibilities The Attorney General serves as 1 of 5 members of the state Land Board. The Land Board oversees the money generated from 5.2 million acres of land in the state. The Montana Attorney General acts as the supervisor for the 56 County Attorneys in the State. Austin Knudsen
Austin Miles Knudsen (born 1980/1981) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the Attorney General of Montana. He formerly served as the Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. During his time in the Montana House from 2010 to 2018, he represented House District 36, which includes the Culbertson area. Early life and education Knudsen was raised in Culbertson, Montana. He earned a Bachelor of Science in sociology and Bachelor of Arts in political science from Montana State University. He then earned a Juris Doctor from the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana. Career Knudsen was elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2010 and took office in 2011. From 2015 to 2019, Knudsen served as the Speaker of the Montana House. Steve Bullock (American Politician)
Stephen Clark Bullock (born April 11, 1966) is an American politician and lawyer, who served as the 24th governor of Montana from 2013 to 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Born in Missoula, Montana, Bullock graduated from Claremont McKenna College and Columbia Law School. He began his career working as legal counsel to the Secretary of State of Montana before becoming the Executive Assistant Attorney General and acting Chief Deputy Attorney General of Montana. Michael McGrath (born August 22, 1947) is an American lawyer and judge who has served as the chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court since 2009. He was elected in 2008. He also served as the Attorney General of Montana from 2000 to 2008. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
