''Attica'' is a 1980 television film directed by Marvin J. Chomsky. It stars Morgan Freeman, Henry Darrow, Charles Durning, Joel Fabiani and Anthony Zerbe. Joel Fabiani (born September 28, 1936, in Watsonville, California) is an American film, television and theater actor. Known for his leading role in the British TV series '' Department S'', Fabiani has guest starred in ''The FBI'', ''Barnaby Jones'', ''The Streets of San Francisco'', '' Banacek'', ''Cannon'', ''The Rockford Files'' and ''Starsky and Hutch''. His film appearances include '' Looking for Mr. Goodbar'' (1977), ''Reuben, Reuben'' (1983) and ''Tune In Tomorrow'' (1990), and he has also had recurring roles in soap operas such as ''Dallas'', ''Dynasty'', ''As the World Turns'', and ''All My Children''. Attica Correctional Facility is a maximum security campus New York State prison in the Attica (town), New York, Town of Attica, New York (state), New York, operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. It was constructed in the 1930s in response to earlier riots within the New York state prisons. A CS gas system (chlorobenzylidine malononitrile) installed in the mess hall and industry areas has been used to quell conflicts in these areas. The prison now holds numerous inmates who are serving various types of sentences (short-term to life).
