Attention Scum
''Attention Scum'' was a 2001 television comedy series created by Simon Munnery and Stewart Lee. It starred Munnery as his "League Against Tedium" character and contained acerbic stand-up routines atop a transit van and sketches including mainstays such as "24 Hour News" (performed by Johnny Vegas), operatic intermissions by Kombat Opera, and two characters engaged in a duel over their hats. Broadcast Originally shown on BBC 2 at 11:50pm on Sundays from February to April 2001, the programme was not repeated on the BBC and only played on the now-defunct channel UK Play. In March 2001, it was nominated for a Golden Rose of Montreux although the BBC had already declined to fund a second series. As of July 2017, there has not been an official DVD release. Simon Munnery
Simon Munnery, also known as his characters "Alan Parker: Urban Warrior" and "The League Against Tedium", is an English comedian. He performs mainly to an alternative audience but has pierced the mainstream both with his BBC Radio 1 show in 1997 and his BBC2 television series ''Attention Scum!'' in 2001. His stand-up is often satirical and political and almost always surreal. Munnery's experimental style is reflected in his makeshift, often elaborate props. As "The League" he often wore a hat crafted from a kettle, epaulets that contained working model tanks, and shoes covered in roses. In ''Buckethead'' he played a character who performed the entire show with a metal bucket over his head. Golden Rose Of Montreux
The Rose d'Or ('Golden Rose') is an international awards festival in entertainment broadcasting and programming. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) first acquired the Rose d’Or in 1961, when it was created by Swiss Television in the lakeside city of Montreux. The awards stayed with the EBU for almost 40 years. The EBU re-acquired the awards in 2013 and successfully re-launched the event that year in Brussels, then relocated to Berlin from 2014 to 2018. In 2014 the event took place on 17 September in Berlin, Germany. For the first time in its 53-year history, the competition categories were extended to include radio and online video programmes in addition to the traditional focus on television. Cluub Zarathustra
Cluub Zarathustra was a fringe comedy cabaret act and troupe active between 1994 and 1997. It began as a comedy club in Islington, London, twice went to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was eventually given a Channel 4 television pilot. It is also the subject of a 2012 book called ''You Are Nothing''. Cluub Zarathustra was set up by comedians Simon Munnery and Roger Mann. Its remit was to showcase unconventional and avant garde comedy, without the acts ever resorting to traditional comedy. Stewart Lee soon joined and helped in the vision and organisation of the Cluub. Other members were Johnny Vegas, Julian Barratt, Loré Lixenberg, Richard Thomas, Richard Herring, The Iceman, Jason Freeman, Sally Phillips and Kevin Eldon. Play UK was a television channel broadcasting in the United Kingdom as part of the UKTV network of channels. Play UK broadcast all day on the digital platforms, but on the Sky Analogue platform on the Astra 19.2°E satellite system it broadcast between 1am and 7am when UK Horizons was not broadcasting.
