Atletas Campesinos
Atletas Campesinos was the first Querétaro football team who played Primera Division, also played for the defunct Segunda Division de Mexico now known as Ascenso MX and hosted its games at Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico. History They are remembered in the town of Santiago de Querétaro to be the first city team to play in the Primera Division. In the late 1970s, Armando Presa purchased Estudiantes de Querétaro from the Segunda Division de Mexico, and renamed them to Atletas Campesinos. On June 22, 1980, by the management of Antonio Carbajal and Antonio Ascencio, the team achieved promotion to Primera Division after defeating Osos Grises of Toluca in the final, by a score of 2–1 as a visitor in the Estadio Nemesio Díez, after a tie in Estadio Municipal de Querétaro. The team played two seasons, spent the 1980–81 season with more pain than glory and in the 81–82 season, with reinforcements, a better season was achieved, but without reaching playoffs. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX was the second tier of professional football in Mexico of the Mexican football league system. The champion of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top-flight tier). The bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (the third tier). It was sponsored by BBVA through its Mexican subsidiary BBVA, and was officially known as Ascenso BBVA MX. Formerly known as Primera División A (First Division A) the league rebranded in 2009 its name and competition format to Liga de Ascenso. It was rebranded in 2012 as Ascenso MX. Estadio Nemesio Díez
The Estadio Nemesio Díez (Nemesio Diez Stadium), nicknamed "La Bombonera" (The Chocolate Box) due to its shape, is one of the oldest football stadiums in Mexico. Opened on August 8, 1954, with a capacity of 27,273, it is located in the city of Toluca, State of Mexico, near Mexico City. It is the home of Deportivo Toluca Fútbol Club. This stadium has hosted two World Cups (1970 and 1986). The stadium sits at an altitude of roughly above sea level, one of the highest altitude stadiums in North America.
