Atlanta Vision
The Atlanta Vision was an American Basketball Association (ABA) team based in Atlanta. The team began play in the fall of 2004. They finished the 2005 season with a 7–14 record, which was not good enough to make the playoffs. However, in the 2005–06 season, they finished 23–7, which was good enough for first place in the Barnes-Malone division over Tim Hardaway's Florida Pit Bulls. They also made it to the ABA's Great 8 tournament at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York, losing in the quarterfinals to the host team, the Rochester Razorsharks. The Vision won a divisional title in 2008. In September 2008, Atlanta Vision owner Quentin Townsend was sued by former partners Carter Patterson and Brian Richey, alleging that Townsend defrauded them while purporting to pursue an affiliation with the NBA Development League. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Savannah Spirits
The Savannah Spirits were a professional basketball team that played for two years in the Continental Basketball Association from 1986 to 1988, amassing a total regular season record of 42 wins and 60 losses for a total of 306.5 points. The team originally began play in the 1982–1983 season as the Detroit Spirits, compiling a record of 26–18, winning the Central Division title; they defeated the Rochester Zeniths for the Conference title and the Montana Golden Nuggets for the CBA title. The Spirits did not qualify for the postseason in their first year in Savannah, Georgia. The Georgia Gwizzlies is a basketball team that currently plays in the American Basketball Association. They once played in various men's minor leagues: the Continental Basketball League (CBL), the American National Basketball League, and their original stint in the American Basketball Association. The Augusta Groove was a team in the Premier Basketball League that previously played in the Continental Basketball Association and the modern American Basketball Association. Formerly, the team was known as the Charlotte Krunk in the ABA, where they played at Charlotte, North Carolina's Cricket Arena, and the Atlanta Krunk of the CBA.
