Atilla Kiss B.
Atilla Kiss B. (Hungarian style Kiss B. Atilla) (born 28 January 1963, Huedin) is a Romanian-born Hungarian operatic tenor. He made his debut at the Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera in 1993. In 2002 he sang the title role in the film version of Ferenc Erkel's opera ''Bánk bán''. Kiss has been awarded the Franz Liszt Prize (2002), the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (2011), and the Kossuth Prize (2014). Biography Atilla Kiss B. has his roots in the Hungarian minority in Romania. He was born in Transsylvanian town Huedin (Hungarian ''Bánffyhunyad''), which is situated in nowadays Romania, but belonged to Hungary up until the borders were changed after World War I. He got in to the Hungarian language opera education at the Musical Academy in Cluj in Romania when he was 26 years old, after the fall of Communism, and started to sing leading roles already during his education. Huedin
Huedin ( hu, Bánffyhunyad, ; german: Heynod; yi, הוניוד or הוניאד) is a town in Cluj County, Transylvania, Romania. Huedin is located at the northern edge of the Apuseni Mountains. It is surrounded by the villages of Nearșova, Domoșu, Horlacea and others. The town administers one village, Bicălatu (''Magyarbikal''). Lately, Huedin has started to be known for its ecotourism initiatives. Hungarian State Opera House
The Hungarian State Opera House ( hu, Magyar Állami Operaház) is a neo-Renaissance opera house located in central Budapest, on Andrássy út. Originally known as the Hungarian Royal Opera House, it was designed by Miklós Ybl, a major figure of 19th-century Hungarian architecture. Construction began in 1875, funded by the city of Budapest and by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary, and the new house opened to the public on the 27 September 1884. Before the closure of the "Népszínház" in Budapest, it was the third largest opera building in the city; today it is the second largest opera house in Budapest and in Hungary. Kossuth Prize
The Kossuth Prize ( hu, Kossuth-díj) is a state-sponsored award in Hungary, named after the Hungarian politician and revolutionist Lajos Kossuth. The Prize was established in 1948 (on occasion of the centenary of the March 15th revolution, the day on which it is still handed over every year) by the Hungarian National Assembly, to acknowledge outstanding personal and group achievements in the fields of science, culture and the arts, as well as in the building of socialism in general. Order Of Merit Of The Republic Of Hungary
The Hungarian Order of Merit ( hu, Magyar Érdemrend) is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946. In 2011 its official name changed from Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Hungarian Order of Merit in accordance with the new Hungarian Constitution. It is awarded in either civilian or military divisions. Since 2011, the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen is the highest State honour of Hungary.
