The sport of athletics, athletics events at the 2023 SEA Games took place from 6–12 May 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Games featured a total of 47 events. Morodok Techo National Stadium
The Morodok Techo National Stadium ( km, កីឡដ្ឋានជាតិមរតកតេជោ) is a football and athletics stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is the main venue of the larger Morodok Techo National Sports Complex. Construction The Morodok Techo National Sports Complex, which includes the main stadium, was constructed specifically for Cambodia's hosting of the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. Construction of the sports complex began in April 2013 while the construction of the main stadium began in August 2017. The groundbreaking ceremony for the stadium was held earlier on April 4, 2017. The Chinese government provided 1.1 billion Chinese yuan (about $160 million) aid for the construction of the stadium which was developed by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Ernest John Obiena
Ernest John Uy Obiena (born November 17, 1995) is a Filipino pole vaulter. Before breaking the Asian Athletics Championships record, he held the Philippine national record in pole vaulting with a record of 5.55 meters which he accomplished on April 29, 2016, at the 78th Singapore Open Championships in Kallang, Singapore. He later broke the Asian Athletics Championships record with 5.71 meters on April 21, 2019, on its 23rd biennial meet at Doha, Qatar which earned him the coveted gold medal finish. He currently holds the National Record which he broke in the same event. Obiena is currently ranked as the world's third-best active men's pole vaulter, as per the World Athletics. He currently holds the Indonesian national records for the 3000 metres, 5000 metres, 10,000 metres, and half marathon. Jun Jie Calvin Quek is a Singapore sprinter who specialises in the 400m and 400m hurdles. As a schoolboy, Quek was a perennial medallist at National Schools in both events. He first broke the 400m hurdles national record in February 2022 with a time of 51.73s at a Southeast Asian Games Trial.
