Athletics At The 2019 Pan American Games – Men's 400 Metres Hurdles
The men's 400 metres hurdles competition of the athletics events at the 2019 Pan American Games will take place between the 6 and 8 of August at the 2019 Pan American Games Athletics Stadium. The defending Pan American Games champion is Jeffery Gibson from the Bahamas. Summary Leading semi-finalist Juander Santos continued his domination of the field, building to a significant 3 step lead on his nearest chaser by the 8th hurdle. He began to pay for his early speed, slowing as he turned for home. Alison dos Santos was gaining over the 9th hurdle and Juander could sense a challenge coming as he stretched his steps to get over the 10th. Juander's lead foot hit the hurdle squarely and he crashed to the ground. Clearing it cleanly, Alison cruised in, hands outstretched, to an easy win. Alison Dos Santos
Alison Brendom Alves dos Santos (born 3 June 2000) is a Brazilian athlete specialising in the 400 metres hurdles. He is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games, the 2022 World Champion and the third fastest athlete in the history of the event, in addition to being a gold medalist in the 2019 Pan American Games. Dos Santos is currently the South American and Pan American record holder in the competition. He was the 2022 Diamond League 400 m hurdles champion. Early life As a 10-month-old, a domestic accident left him with third-degree oil burns on his head and characteristic scars. As a child, Alison took a chance on judo. The Pan American Games is a quadrennial event which began in 1951. The Pan American Sports Organization accepts only athletes who are representing one of the organisation's member states (most of which are within the Americas) and recognises records set at editions of the Pan American Games.
