Athletics At The 2015 Pan American Games – Women's Long Jump
The women's long jump competition of the athletics events at the 2015 Pan American Games will take place between the 23 and 24 of July at the CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletics Stadium. The defending Pan American Games champion is Maurren Maggi of Brazil. Records Prior to this competition, the existing world and Pan American Games records were as follows: Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) was able to enter up to two entrants providing they had met the minimum standard (6.18) in the qualifying period (January 1, 2014 to June 28, 2015). York Lions Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on the Keele Campus of Toronto's York University in the former city of North York. Keila da Silva Costa (born 6 February 1983) is a Brazilian long jumper and triple jumper. She has competed in three Olympic Games, 2004, 2008 and 2012, and has reached the final round both there and in World Championships and World Indoor Championships. She is the South American record holder in triple jump with 14.58 metres, and has 6.88 metres in the long jump. Both results were achieved in 2007. Early career She was born in Abreu e Lima near Recife, and took up athletics at the age of nine. It was not the easiest of things to become an international athlete, as the city of Abreu e Lima did not sport a rubber track; also she came from a "humble family". Quanesha Burks
Quanesha Burks (born March 15, 1995) is an American track and field athlete who mainly competes as a long jumper. She represented her country at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. She was the gold medalist at the regional 2015 NACAC Championships in Athletics. Collegiately, she competed for Alabama Crimson Tide and was the 2015 NCAA Division I champion in long jump. Career Born to Lesha Dobbins in Ozark, Alabama, she attended Hartselle High School and went on to study at University of Alabama. Burks has four younger siblings; two brothers and two sisters. Akela Jones (born 22 April 1995) is a Barbadian track and field athlete who holds Barbadian records in the women's heptathlon, pentathlon, long jump and high jump. She won gold in the long jump at the 2014 World Junior Championships. In 2015, she was NCAA champion in the heptathlon and won bronze in the high jump at the Pan American Games. Chantel Malone
Chantel Ellen Malone (born 2 December 1991 in Puerto Rico) is an athlete representing the British Virgin Islands who competes in the long jump and sprinting events. Malone attended Althea Scatiffe Primary School before attending BVI High School, which Is now known as Elmore Stoutt High School. In college, she was the Conference Champion for both indoor and outdoor track and field events, named All-American at the NCAA Division 1 Championship, and was a finalist at the World Junior Championships in two events, the long jump and the 400. She placed fourth at the Commonwealth Games, won gold at the CAC Championships, and most recently won a silver medal at the NACAC Championships. In August 2015, Malone joined with Digicel as a brand ambassador. Brianne Theisen-Eaton (born 18 December 1988) is a Canadian retired track and field athlete who competed in the heptathlon and women's pentathlon. She won the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Theisen-Eaton holds the Canadian record for the heptathlon with 6,808 points, as well as the indoor pentathlon with a score of 4768 points.
