Marlou Van Rhijn
Marlou van Rhijn (; born 22 October 1991) is a retired professional Dutch former professional sprint runner. Van Rhijn, who was born without lower legs, is the world record holder for T43 in the 100 and 200 metres events and ran with the aid of carbon fibre transtibial artificial limbs. She competed in T44 (single below knee incapacity) events though she was classified in T43 (double below knee). She announced her retirement in June 2021. Personal Marlou van Rhijn was born on 22 October 1991 in Monnickendam in the Netherlands. She studied commercial economics at the Johan Cruyff Institute in Amsterdam. April Holmes (born 11 March 1973) is a Paralympic athlete from the USA competing mainly in category T44 sprint events. Biography Holmes grew up in Somerdale, New Jersey. She competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece, where she won a bronze medal in the women's Long jump – F44/46 event, finished sixth in the women's 100 metres – T46 event, with a world T44 record and finished seventh in the women's 200 metres – T46 event. The 2012 Summer Paralympics, branded as the London 2012 Paralympic Games, were an international multi-sport parasports event held from 29 August to 9 September 2012 in London, England, United Kingdom. Wang Juan (, born 3 September 1975) is a Paralympian Track and field, athlete from China competing mainly in category T44 sprinter events. She competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece where she won the gold medal in the T12 1500m and a bronze medal in the T12 800m. She returned to the Paralympics in 2008 Summer Paralympics, 2008 in Beijing, China winning one more bronze medal in the T44 100m. Sophie Kamlish
Sophie Kamlish (born 20 August 1996) is a British Paralympic athlete who competes in sprint events in T44 events. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and 2016 Summer Paralympics. Early life Kamlish was born in Camden, London in 1996. She was born with a right foot that was severely turned in, for which a splint was fitted to straighten it. Despite this her right leg was significantly shorter than her left and when Kamlish was nine her doctors suggested the fitting of a gradual extension frame to lengthen her leg. Kamlish was already in significant pain and there was no guarantee that the frame would work so she and her family opted for a below the knee amputation. Maya Nakanishi
is a Paralympic athlete from Japan, competing in category T44 sprint and long jump events. She was born in Ōsaka, Ōsaka Prefecture, and played soft tennis competitively. In 2006 while working at a paint factory she was struck by a 5-tonne steel frame. Her right lower leg was amputated below the knee. After finding the transition back to tennis difficult she was encouraged to switch to track and field and quickly found success, setting Japanese records in the F44 category for the 100 and 200 meter events shortly after. Nakanishi competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China, where she placed 4th in the women's 200 m F44 event, and finished sixth in the women's 100 metres. Due to lack of funds, Nakanishi was unable to participate in the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand. Stefanie McLeod Reid (born 26 October 1984) is a track and field paralympian who competes for Great Britain, competing mainly in category T44 long jump and sprint events. A multiple medal winner at European and world level, she won a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and silver in the long jump at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Reid was also a semi-finalist on ''Celebrity MasterChef'' in 2018 and was a quarter-finalist on the fourteenth series of ''Dancing on Ice''. Personal history Reid was born in New Zealand to British parents; her father is Scottish and her mother is English. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada when she was aged 4. Reid lost her right foot in a boating accident, aged 16. Her life was saved by a surgeon in Toronto who amputated her right leg below the knee.
