Jerome Singleton
Jerome Singleton (born July 7, 1986) is a Paralympic athlete from the United States competing mainly in category T44 (single below knee amputation) sprint events. Because he had no fibula in his right calf, his leg was amputated below the knee when he was 18 months old. Singleton was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, and attended Dutch Fork High School where he played varsity football, junior varsity basketball and track. He holds a bachelor's degree in math and applied physics from Morehouse College and a bachelor's in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. He has worked as a researcher at NASA and CERN. Márcio Miguel da Costa Fernandes (born 18 May 1983) is a Paralympic athlete who has represented Cape Verde at both the 2012 Summer Paralympics, 2012 and the 2012 Summer Paralympics. He was born in Portugal to Cape Verdean parents. He lost his leg in a car accident at age 10. While recovering in the hospital, he saw a documentary on runner Oscar Pistorius and decided to become a sprint runner. Behre holds the German record in the 100 meters event with a time of 11.66 seconds, the European records in the 200 meters event with a time of 23.14s and the 400 meters event with a time of 51.40s. At the 2012 Paralympic Games, Behre won a bronze medal as part of the German 4 × 100 m relay team. Jack Swift (born 8 August 1985) is an Australian Paralympic athletics, athletics competitor and paratriathlon, paratriathlete. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in athletics in the 400m and 4 × 100 m events. Jean-Baptiste Alaize (born 10 May 1991) is a French athlete with an amputated tibia, who specialises in sprint and long jump. He represented France at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Early life Alaize was born in Burundi, in 1991, just days before the Burundian Civil War broke out. At three years old, the conflict required one of his legs to be amputated.
