Athletics At The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games
Athletics was one of the seven sports of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. Held between 9 and 11 September, the events were staged at the National Sports Centre in Douglas, Isle of Man. A total of 34 athletics events were contested, 17 for both boys and girls. Racewalking and pole vault events were scheduled for both sexes, but did not take place due to lack of entries. Over the course of the three-day tournament 11 Commonwealth Youth Games records were set or improved. Strong tailwinds affected both the sprint events and horizontal jumps. Each Commonwealth Games Association sent up to two athletes per event, including one relay team. The age of participating athletes was limited to 16- and 17-year-olds only. This meant that for 2011 athletes must have been born in 1994 or 1995 to be eligible to take part. Douglas, Isle Of Man

Jazmin Sawyers
Jazmin Sawyers (born 21 May 1994) is a British track and field athlete who competes in the long jump, and sports presenter. She has also competed as a bobsledder and a heptathlete. Representing England, she was the silver medallist in the long jump at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She won a silver medal at the 2016 European Athletics Championships and a bronze medal in the 2022 event. Nijel Carlos Amilfitano Amos (born 15 March 1994) is a Motswana middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres. He won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was Botswana's first ever Olympic medal. Early life Nijel Amos is from Marobela village in the North Eastern part of Botswana. Leonard Kirwa Kosencha (born 21 August 1994) is a Kenyan Middle distance running, middle distance runner. He won a gold medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics – Boys' 800 metres, 800 m at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics. Joshua Clarke (born 19 May 1995) is an Australian track and field sprinter. He is a former national 100-metre champion in Australia. Early life Born in Sydney, Clarke studied at The King's School where he was coached by Nancy Atterton, a former sprinter and gold medalist in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.
