Sanaa Benhama
Sanaa Benhama (born 9 June 1982) is a Paralympic athlete from Morocco competing mainly in category T13 sprint events. She has competed at two Summer Paralympics, most notably at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China where she won three gold medals dominating the sprint field in her class. Personal history Benhama was born in Khemisset, Morocco in 1982. Athletics career Benhama, who trains out of Association Handisport Ennasser in Salé, made her senior debut as a T13 classification athlete at a meet in Rabat in 2008. Later that year she made her full international debut when she was selected as part of the Morocco team to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. She competed in four events, the three sprints and the long jump. is a Japanese para-athlete competing mainly in category F12 long jump and 100 metres events. She holds the Japanese record in both. Early life and education Her parents had noticed that Sawada had poor eyesight since she was six years old, but her eyesight deteriorated rapidly after she entered junior high school, and it was discovered that she had retinitis pigmentosa. After graduating from junior high school, she went on to Tokyo Metropolitan Bunkyo School for the Blind, where she began training in athletics after participating in the Tokyo qualifying round for the National Sports Championships for the Disabled as part of her physical education classes. Ilse Hayes (born 30 August 1985), also known as Ilse Carstens, is a Paralympian athlete from South Africa competing mainly in category T13 sprint events. Hayes has competed for her country at four Summer Paralympics beginning with the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece. She has won medals at each of the four games including two gold medals, both in the long jump, at Beijing (2008) and London (2012). As well as her Paralympic success Hayes is a multiple medal winner at World Championship level. Personal history Hayes was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1985. At the age of eleven she was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, an inherited form of juvenile macular degeneration, which causes progressive loss of vision.
