Beijing National Stadium
The National Stadium (), also known as the Bird's Nest (), is an 80,000-capacity stadium in Beijing. Mohamed Farhat Chida ( ar, محمد فرحات شيدة; born September 11, 1982) is a Paralympic athlete from Tunisia competing mainly in category T38 sprint events. Biographies Between 1990 and 1997, Mohamed competed in able bodied athletics and cycling, he was injured in a road accident in 2003 and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Haider Ali (athlete)
Haider Ali (born 12 December 1984 in Gujranwala) is an all-around Pakistani para-athlete who created history at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China by winning Pakistan's first ever Paralympic games medal, a silver. He also shared a new world record with his jump of 6.44 meters at the Games. He has competed at the Paralympics on four occasions in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. He has the unique record of winning a country's first ever Paralympic gold, silver and bronze medals as he is the only Pakistani to have won a medal in Paralympic history. Darren Thrupp
Darren Brian Thrupp, OAM (born 6 December 1966) is an Australian Paralympic athlete competing mainly in category T37 sprint events. He has won nine medals at six Paralympics. Biography Thrupp was born in the Queensland town of Kilcoy. He acquired a brain injury in a car accident on a dusty Queensland road in February 1985 on the way home from a cricket match against Surat. The accident affected the right side of his body, in a way similar to hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Before the accident, like many young men from country Queensland, he was involved in running, cricket and playing A-grade rugby league for the Wallumbilla Herefords. He was looking forward to a rugby league career. The people of Roma encouraged him to take up athletics. In 1987, he attended a Sporting Wheelies "come and try" day and his times qualified him for the 1988 Seoul Games. Fares Hamdi
Fares Hamdi (born 17 April 1980) is a Paralympian athlete from Tunisia competing mainly in category F37 long jump events. Fares has competed in three Paralympic Games, winning a medal at each one, always in a different event. His first success came in 2000 in Sydney when he won the F37 long jump as well as competing in the T37 long jump. Four years later in Athens he failed in his defence of a long jump gold but did pick up a gold medal as part of the successful Tunisian T35-38 4 × 400 m really team.
