The Seoul Olympic Stadium (), also known as Jamsil Olympic Stadium (formerly romanised as ''Chamshil''), is a multi-purpose stadium in Seoul, South Korea. It is the main stadium built for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1986 Asian Games, 10th Asian Games in 1986. It is the centrepiece of the Seoul Sports Complex in the Songpa District, in the southeast of the city south of the Han River (Korea), Han River. It is the largest stadium in South Korea. Design and construction This multi-purpose stadium was designed by Kim Swoo-geun. The lines of the stadium's profile imitate the elegant curves of a Korean Joseon Dynasty porcelain vase. Jillian Cheryl Richardson-Briscoe (born March 10, 1965 in Guayaguayare, Trinidad and Tobago) is a Canadians, Canadian athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres. She is a three-time Olympian. In 1988, she equalled Marita Payne's Canadian 400 metres record of 49.91 secs. The record (as of 2022) still stands. She was inducted into the Athletics Canada Hall of Fame in 2017. Richardson won a gold medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team. Angella ("Sandie") Richards (born 6 November 1968 in Clarendon Park) is a Jamaican track and field athlete. She was a bronze medalist in the 4x400 m relay at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Charmaine Crooks (born August 8, 1962), is a Canadian athlete, five-time Olympian and Olympic Silver Medallist (LA '84, 4X400m Relay). Crooks was born in Mandeville, Jamaica, but represented Canada for close to 20 years in athletics.
