Athletics At The 2015 Pan American Games – Men's 200 Metres
The men's 200 metres sprint competition of the athletics events at the 2015 Pan American Games will take place between the 23 and 24 of July at the CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletics Stadium. The defending Pan American Games champion is Roberto Skyers from Cuba. CIBC Pan Am And Parapan Am Athletics Stadium
York Lions Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on the Keele Campus of Toronto's York University in the former city of North York. It is home to the York Lions, the varsity teams of York University, the Toronto Arrows of Major League Rugby and York United of the Canadian Premier League. The facility was primarily built for the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games, where it hosted track and field events and the opening ceremony. In 2021, the stadium's running track was removed to expand the playing surface used for football and soccer. History Initial plans had a multi-purpose athletics and soccer stadium to be built somewhere in the vicinity of Hamilton, Ontario; however, the final plans separated the soccer and athletics venues. List Of Pan American Games Records In Athletics
The Pan American Games is a quadrennial event which began in 1951. The Pan American Sports Organization accepts only athletes who are representing one of the organisation's member states (most of which are within the Americas) and recognises records set at editions of the Pan American Games. The Games records in athletics are the best marks set in competitions at the Games. The athletics events at the Games are divided into four groups: track events (including sprints, middle- and long-distance running, hurdling and relays), field events (including javelin, discus, hammer, pole vault, long and triple jumps), road events and combined events (the heptathlon and decathlon). Reynier Mena Berenguer (born 21 November 1996) is a Cuban sprinter. He competed in the 200 metres at the 2015 World Championships and 2016 Olympics. On 3 July 2022, Mena set massive personal bests in both the 100 metres, joining the sub-10-second club with a 9.99, and in the 200 metres with a 19.63 that suddenly made him into the #10 performers of all time. Brendon Rodney
Brendon Rodney (born 9 April 1992) is a Canadian sprinter. As a member of the Canadian men's relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist in the 4 × 100 metres relay, taking silver in 2020 and bronze in 2016. He is also the 2022 World champion and 2015 World bronze medallist in the same event. Career Rodney attended St. Augustine Secondary School in Brampton. Rodney was named to Canada's team for the 2013 Summer Universiade. The following year he competed for Canada's team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He then competed as part of the Canadian team at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. On his way to competing for Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rodney became just the second Canadian man to run the 200 m in under 20 seconds when he ran a 19.96 at the national trials in Edmonton, beating favourite Andre De Grasse. Bruno Lins Tenório de Barros (born 7 January 1987) is a Brazilian sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres. Biography Barros was born in Maceió and resides in São Bernardo. He represented Brazil at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He competed in the 4x100 metres relay together with José Carlos Moreira, Vicente de Lima and Sandro Viana. In their qualification heat they placed fourth behind Trinidad and Tobago, Japan and the Netherlands. Their time of 39.01 was the seventh out of sixteen participating nations in the first round and they qualified for the final. There they sprinted to a time of 38.24 seconds, the fourth time after the Jamaican, Trinidad and Japanese teams. Miguel Francis (born 28 March 1995) is a sprinter born in Montserrat, a British overseas territory, who as of 5 April 2017 represents Great Britain internationally. Francis, a resident of Antigua and Barbuda following his evacuation from Montserrat at just 6 months old, competed for that nation prior to April 2017. He competed for that country in the 200 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing narrowly missing the final.
