Atenienses de Manatí () is a professional baseball team based in Manatí, Puerto Rico. ''Atenienses'' is the team name for most sport teams representing Manatí in state-level tournaments. The Atenienses appeared in Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente when José Valentín acquired the Cangrejeros de Santurce and relocated them to Manatí for the 2004–05 season. For the 2008–09 season, the team returned to San Juan as the Cangrejeros, after which the league was suspended only to return in 2012 and 2013, and from 2019 to the present. Their home stadium in Manatí is the Estadio Municipal Pedro Román Meléndez. On January 11, 2021, the team was given the go ahead to play again, after having cancelled games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Manatí () is a city and municipality of Puerto Rico on the northern coast, north of Morovis and Ciales; east of Florida and Barceloneta; and west of Vega Baja. Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LBPRC) is the main professional baseball sports league, league in Puerto Rico; it is colloquially referred to as the Puerto Rican Winter league baseball, Winter League. José Antonio Valentín (born October 12, 1969) is a Puerto Rican former American Major League Baseball infielder. He played for the Milwaukee Brewers (–), Chicago White Sox (–), Los Angeles Dodgers (), and New York Mets (–). His son Jesmuel was a 1st round pick by the Dodgers in the 2012 MLB draft. Baseball career Early years Valentín was signed on October 12, , by the San Diego Padres as an amateur free agent. Cangrejeros de Santurce (English: Santurce Crabbers) is a professional baseball team based in Santurce, the largest barrio of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Yadier Benjamín Molina (; born July 13, 1982), nicknamed "Yadi", is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball catcher who played his entire career with the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB).
