''Atabai'' (Persian: آتابای) is a 2020 Iranian romantic drama film directed by Niki Karimi and written by Hadi Hejazifar and Karimi. The film screened for the first time at the 38th Fajr Film Festival and earned 5 nominations. Premise The story is about Kazem a middle aged man who lives in a village. He has left the university because of a former love but when two sisters enter his life he falls in love once again. Coal (2019 Film)
Coal ( az, Kömür) – a film by Azerbaijani scenarist and film director Ismayil Munsif and by French producer Etienne de Ricaud. The use of Azerbaijani Turkic in the movie caused some obstacles. The film was not awarded at the Fajr International Film Festival. The director said that, this was due to the fact that the film was shot in Azerbaijani Turkic. Later, the promotion of the film was banned in the city of Ardabil under the pretext of promoting pan-Turkism. However, there was nothing promoting Turkism in the script of the film. A day after the banning ordered by the Irshad and Culture Department of Ardabil, the Turkic-language film "Coal" was allowed to be screened in Ardabil in the face of protests. Fajr International Film Festival
Iran's annual Fajr International Film Festival ( fa, جشنواره بین‌المللی فیلم فجر), or Fajr Film Festival (little: FIFF; fa, جشنواره فیلم فجر), has been held every February and April in Tehran since 1982. The festival is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. It takes place on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
